In the aeolian-dominated conditions of modern Mars, wind-driven sediment deposition and erosion produce a wide range enigmatic landforms on planet's surface. this work, we explore widespread occurrence paleodunes surface Mars. These fossilized bedforms preserve morphologies consistent with transverse dunes, implying an approximately unimodal ancient transport azimuth abundant supply. have previously been interpreted as layered dust deposits, their bland, dust-like reflectance spectra are volcanic ash. Additionally, these undergone induration significantly eroded by recent winds, causing superimposed yardang-like erosional texture older dune morphology. We propose that unusual most likely occurred wind-mobilized pyroclastics welded or were cemented in place after since into field hybrid paleobedform/proto-yardangs.
